FORMULA APPROVED BY THE MINISTRY OF HEALTH
With the most important natural ingredients for controlling cholesterol and blood triglyceride levels, Colest Medical Elite supports cardiovascular function.
LIPID METABOLISM
CHOLINE is an essential nutrient involved in lipid metabolism. It contributes to normal lipid metabolism and the maintenance of normal liver function.
Natural cardioprotective and antioxidant agents
BERBERIS ARISTATA, ASTAXANTHIN, POLICOSANOLS, TURMERIC, and MILK THISTLE are powerful natural cardioprotective and antioxidant agents that help normalise blood cholesterol levels.
For heart and cholesterol health
Chromium, coenzyme Q10, vitamins B3, B6, B7, B9 and B12, and vitamin E have a powerful beneficial effect on the heart and blood cholesterol levels.
Cholesterol is often seen as an enemy. In fact, it is a fat molecule naturally present in the body that supports normal function when present at optimal physiological levels. It contributes to cell membrane formation, hormone production, digestion and vitamin absorption. Colest Medical is a food supplement containing 120 tablets, with a recommended dose of two a day.
In general, the following values are considered normal: total cholesterol below 200 mg/dL; LDL (bad) cholesterol below 100 mg/dL; and HDL (good) cholesterol of 60 mg/dL or above. However, optimal levels can vary depending on cardiovascular risk factors such as family history, obesity, physical inactivity and smoking. Talk to your doctor to determine the optimal levels for you.
Low-density lipoproteins (LDL) refer to “bad” cholesterol, while high-density lipoproteins (HDL) refer to “good” cholesterol. LDL carries excess cholesterol from the liver to the arteries, while HDL helps remove cholesterol from the blood. The optimal HDL/LDL cholesterol ratio is usually considered to be above 0.3. This means there should be at least 0.3 units of HDL for every unit of LDL.
One capsule of Colest Medical Elite contains choline, Berberis aristata, astaxanthin, policosanols, coenzyme Q10, turmeric, milk thistle, chromium, niacin (vitamin B3), pyridoxine (vitamin B6), inositol (vitamin B7), folic acid (vitamin B9), cobalamin (vitamin B12) and tocopherol (vitamin E). This formula, the latest development in nutraceuticals, has been concentrated and standardised to a defined active-compound content to help the body maintain an optimal balance of blood lipid levels.
Choline is an essential nutrient involved in the body’s normal fat management processes, including cholesterol metabolism. It contributes to normal lipid metabolism, the maintenance of normal liver function, and normal homocysteine metabolism. Naturally present in various foods, choline is also found in plant sources such as soy, sunflower lecithin, wheat germ, legumes, broccoli, and Brussels sprouts.
Berberis aristata (berberine) is a plant isoquinoline alkaloid with a history dating back millennia, used in Chinese and Ayurvedic medicine for its lipid-lowering and heart-protective properties. The plant is also known as “berberine”, after the active compound in its root. It grows in the mountainous regions of the Himalayas, benefits lipid metabolism and has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties.
Astaxanthin is a xanthophyll, a lipophilic carotenoid extracted from Haematococcus pluvialis, an alga known for its very high antioxidant potential. Thanks to its chemical composition and its lipid-lowering and cardioprotective properties, it counteracts cellular damage and inflammation, playing a key role in protecting blood vessel cells and improving overall cardiovascular health.
Turmeric is a powerful natural heart-protective ingredient with cleansing and decongestant properties. It helps control blood triglycerides. Turmeric contains curcumin, a compound associated with many health benefits. It has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties and can benefit the lipid profile, the heart, brain, digestive system and skin.
Coenzyme Q10 is a substance naturally produced by our body that helps produce energy in cells. CoQ10 supplementation is particularly useful for people using statins, as their prolonged intake can reduce CoQ10 levels in the blood, causing fatigue or muscular discomfort. It represents optimal support for cardiovascular health and energy metabolism.
Policosanols are plant waxes extracted from sugar cane and cereals. Like statins, they act by inhibiting the liver enzyme 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-coenzyme A reductase. They also boast cardioprotective, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory properties. Some studies have shown that policosanols can help reduce blood sugar levels and improve insulin sensitivity. Furthermore, they can have positive effects on bone health.
Milk thistle is a herbaceous plant with strong antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and liver-protective properties, thanks to its silymarin content. Its fruits are used to treat dyslipidaemia in cases of hypertriglyceridaemia, or high blood triglyceride levels. Silymarin also gives milk thistle protective benefits against liver damage caused by toxins such as alcohol and medicines.
B Vitamins (Niacin, Pyridoxine, Inositol, Folic Acid, and Cobalamin) contribute to regularizing homocysteine levels in the blood, thus promoting cardiovascular system health. They favor energy production, maintain nervous system health, and support the immune system. Vitamin E (Tocopherol) boasts strong anticoagulant, antioxidant, and cardioprotective properties. Tocopherol, in fact, contributes to protecting the cell walls of the arteries.
Chromium is an essential mineral involved in the metabolism of sugars and fats. Although it does not act directly on cholesterol, it can positively influence lipid levels in the blood and therefore have indirect benefits. Chromium can also contribute to improving insulin sensitivity, helping cells better utilise glucose in the blood. This can reduce insulin resistance, which in turn can positively influence lipid metabolism.
